So i found this post on another tumbler account but it wont let me reblog it. But anywho it reminded me of us.
AWOLNATION - Sail
I know, I know. I’m posting another Billboard song. This is a habit I have to stop and look, I can’t tell you exactly why I love Sail, I just do.
While I’m not as a big fan of AWOLNATION’s other stuff: this song is perfection. It balances a sweetness in harmony and clapping with the harsh hoarseness of leader singer, Aaron Bruno’s voice. The lyrics are simple but evocative. And then there’s this hint of synth that I love. Sail has a grittiness a lot of rock music is missing these days. Dammit, there’s even a piano interlude!
And it all ties together perfectly because you literally feel rocked; you’re at the edge of a cliff, you’re in the pouring rain, you’re watching waves crash down.
Life is hard. We have our ups and downs. Sometimes we even have our lows and lower than lows, but recently I have really come to realize on thing.
Family is always there.
Holding us by that last fingertip that is saving our lives before we fall into that deep dark black abyss.
This family may be blood related, or it could be the family that you created around you.
No matter who they are, keep them close. They will hold on by that fingertip. Use all the strength they have to embrace you into a hug until you feel safe. Stain their shirt as they wipe away your years until you feel comfort. Stand by your side through every joy and hardship in your life.
Cherish your family. Love your family.
At the end of the day, they are the most important.
